5th Public Seminar by SDP: Renewable Energy and Citizenship

지난 11월 21일, SDP가 앤드스페이스 경복궁역점에서 “재생에너지와 시민의식”이라는 주제로 공개 세미나를 개최했습니다! UN SDSN Youth Initiative 한국 총괄을 맡고 계신 강동렬 연사님과 김앤장 법률사무소에서 일하신 경험을 바탕으로 현재는 기후솔루션에서 이사 겸 변호사로 계시는 윤세종 연사님이 함께해 주신 덕분에 알차고 유익한 강연을 들을 수 있었습니다.

On November 21st, SDP held a public seminar under the theme of “Renewable Energy and Citizenship”. With Dong Ryul Kang, a general executive director at UN SDSN Youth Initiative, and Sejong Youn, an executive director and attorney at Solutions For Our Climate (SFOC), a meaningful and valuable lecture was successfully delivered.


코로나의 위험성을 인지하여 방역수칙과 위생수칙을 준수하여 실시되었으며, 사회적 거리두기를 고려하여 수용 가능한 인원만 사전 예약을 통해 참가하도록 제한하였습니다. 입장 전 꼼꼼한 발열 체크와 QR 코드 확인을 시행하고 있는 모습입니다!

Recognizing the current COVID-19 pandemic, we followed proper hygiene rules and limited the number of participants to practice social distancing. Look at us meticulously checking all participants’ temperatures and QR-codes before entering the room!

음향과 조명, 자리배치 등 디테일까지 신경 써서 노력해 준 SDP 학회원들 덕분에 강연이 차질 없이 진행될 수 있었습니다.

To prevent any technical difficulties, SDP members surveyed the venue in advance. We considered all details; from sounds, lighting, and the arrangement of chairs and registration booths in the room to avoid overcrowding. As a result, the seminar went by smoothly on the day of the seminar.

After everyone took a seat, our seminar leader briefly introduced SDP and welcomed the speakers.

먼저 강동렬 연사님의 지속가능한 소비와 세계 시민의식에 관한 강연이 있었습니다! 기후변화의 심각성과 미래 세대가 기후 문제를 해결하기 위해 나아가야 할 방향성에 대해 강연해 주셨습니다. 무거운 주제임에도 깨알 같은 연사님의 유머로 즐겁게 강연을 들을 수 있었습니다! ☺

First, Dong Ryul Kang gave a lecture about SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production. He highlighted the magnitude of climate change and discussed how future generations should approach climate problems. Even though it was a heavy issue, everyone enjoyed his lecture with his comical slides and sense of humor!

다음으로는 윤세종 연사님의 강연이 있었습니다. 재생에너지 사용의 현주소와 화석연료 없는 사회를 위한 에너지 정책에 대해 설명해 주셨는데, 어려운 내용도 친절하고 쉽게 풀어 설명해 주셔서 이해가 쏙쏙 되는 강연이었습니다!

Next up was Sejong Youn, tackling SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy. He explained the current situation of renewable energy usages and energy policies for a fossil fuel-free society. With clear and thorough descriptions, the speaker facilitated the understanding of the lecture for everyone!

강연 이후에는 미리 구글 닥스를 통해 참가자 분들께 받은 사전질문을 바탕으로 짧은 Q&A 시간을 가졌는데, 많은 분들께서 적극적으로 참여해 주신 덕분에 활발한 정보 공유의 장이 되었습니다! 세미나가 끝난 이후에도 남아 연사님께 개인적으로 궁금했던 점들을 여쭤보는 적극적인 SDP 학회원들의 모습입니다 ☺

After the lecture, we held a short Q&A session based on the questions received from participants before the seminar. Thanks to those who actively participated, it became a venue with information being bounced around! Here’s a photo of our members networking with the speakers and resolving their inquiries.

귀한 시간 내서 발걸음 해주시고 2시간이 넘는 세미나 시간 동안 집중해서 들어주신 모든 참가자분들과, 실내에서 마스크를 착용하시고 강연하시느라 힘드셨을 텐데 내색 한번 없이 열정적으로 강의해주신 연사님 두 분께 정말 감사했습니다!

We sincerely appreciate all participants and speakers who took their precious time to participate in the seminar and followed all of our guidelines! We couldn’t have done it without everyone’s endeavor.

 

보이지 않는 곳곳에서 세미나를 위해 노력해 준 SDP 학회원들도 정말 고생 많았습니다! 앞으로 더 다양한 주제의 세미나들, 그리고 지속가능발전을 위한 활동들을 계속 진행할 예정이니 더 지켜봐 주세요!

[3월호, 2021년] #32 딥 페이크(Deep Fake)와 디지털 포렌식(Digital Forensic) - 7기 진희주

  딥 페이크(Deep Fake)와 디지털 포렌식(Digital Forensic) 7기 진희주 아래 사진 중 무엇이 실제 오바마의 사진일까 ? 네 장 모두 딥 페이크 기술을 통해 인공지능이 만든 오바마의 사진이다 . 딥 페이크 (Deep Fake) 는 Deep Learning 과 Fake 의 합성어이다 . 딥 페이크는 AI 를 이용해 특정인의 얼굴이나 목소리를 합성한 사진 , 영상 , 음성 편집물 및 그 기술을 통칭하는 단어이다 . 딥 페이크 기술은 새로운 유형의 신경망 ( 머신러닝 알고리즘 ) 발전으로 가능해졌다 .   딥 페이크 기술을 활용하면 유명인의 얼굴을 대역에 합성해 손쉽게 영상을 만들거나 세상에서 사라진 멸종 위기 종이나 과거의 사람들을 생생하게 재현할 수도 있게 된다 . 여러 사람의 얼굴을 통해 가상의 얼굴을 제작하여 사용하거나 스타일 트랜스퍼 (Style transfer) [1] 를 활용해 겨울을 여름으로 , 또는 화창한 날을 비 오는 날로 묘사하는 등 이미지의 환경적 맥락을 바꿀 수 있는 등 딥페이크 기술의 영상 • 사진 산업 분야의 활용도와 가치는 무궁무진하다 .   하지만 딥 페이크는 엄청난 힘에 걸맞게 악용 가능성이 높아 그 위험성에 대한 논란이 최근 활발하게 이뤄지고 있다 . 대표적인 악용사례는 유명 연예인을 합성한 불법 포르노 , 전•현직 대통령의 얼굴을 합성한 가짜뉴스 영상 등으로 사회를 큰 혼란에 빠뜨릴 수 있음을 보여준다 . 딥 페이크 범죄의 대상은 유명인을 넘어 점차 일반인에게까지 확장되고 있다 . 헤어진 연인 , 또는 지인의 얼굴을 다른 나체 사진이나 성인물 동영상과 합성하여 만든 딥 페이크 제작물을 온라인 상에서 유통하거나 이를 통해 협박하는 등 딥 페이크 영상은 점차 심각한 사회적 문제로 대두되고 있다 . 2019 년 4 월 국내에서 큰 논란이 되었던 텔레그램 N 번방 사건에서도 딥페이크를 악용한 사진이 거래 , 유포된 정황이 확인되어 그 심각성이 전면으로 드러나게 되었다 .   딥 페이크 기

[Research Team Insight #2] Project MaPPPing and the role of Research Team - 5기 권경민, 6기 김예빈

1.       What is Project MaPPPing   SDP is constituted of students who have great interest in sustainable development, and we refer to the SDG goals articulated by the UN as the global standard for sustainable development. This year, we have specifically focused on goal number 9 and 11 that emphasizes the role of infrastructure in sustainable development [1] . We believe that sustainable and resilient infrastructure is at the heart of sustainable growth, so we have launched a project called Project MaPPPing in December 2019.
